On the second day, the trail opens onto the stunning Shira Plateau, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo Peak and the expansive alpine landscape. This overnight trek is perfect for travelers who want a condensed but immersive Kilimanjaro experience, combining natural beauty, adventure, and a memorable introduction to Africa’s highest peak before returning to Moshi.

Itinerary

Day 1: Moshi – Londorossi Gate – Forest Camp

After breakfast, you will transfer from Moshi to Londorossi Gate for registration, then continue to the Lemosho trailhead. Begin trekking through dense rainforest, where you may spot colobus monkeys and a variety of birdlife. The trail gradually climbs to Forest Camp, where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.
Distance: ~6 km
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours

Day 2: Forest Camp – Shira Plateau – Return to Moshi

After breakfast, trek across the Shira Plateau while enjoying spectacular views of Kibo Peak. The landscape opens into wide alpine scenery, offering excellent photo opportunities and a true sense of Kilimanjaro’s scale. After the hike, descend and transfer back to Moshi where the trip ends.

Hiking Time: 8–10 hours
